September is Birthday Season around here! We have several during the month in our family, include Josh and Abbie.
I can't believe Josh is FOUR! His birthday fell on a school day, so I made these fun cake pops for him to share with his class. They were super easy. I had planned to make him a special treat a few months ago when I realized his birthday would be a school day. However, throw in a new brother and his big sister having surgery a few days before and his wonderful Mom forgot it was coming so soon. I lost a few days with the hospital stay and seriously thought i had another week until I looked at the calendar. So I lost a couple of hours of sleep and made these fancy cake-pops, I made over done it considering how guilty I was feeling.

He loved his new police hat that thankfully I bought months ago and had stored in the closet.
It must have been God's provision, but I planned the kids birthday party 6 weeks ago. The first day of school I had sent out an invitation stating I knew the next few weeks looked crazy for us. I went and bought the last few decorations I needed that afternoon just Josie and I. Oddly, that was the last free day I've had. Between car accidents, hospital stays, social workers and trying to attach to a new 2 year old. This is one time I am glad my OCD issue of planning worked out.
We had a fancy dirt cakes for dessert.
This year we chose I theme that was perfect for a four and a 7 year old. We did all things GROSS. They were allowed to fart, burp and eat with their hands. They giggled all night.
It was a crazy night, but I think they will remember it for a long time.
Abbie's favorite gift was her fish that she has been asking for. I had refused due to the fact that I didn't want one more thing to take care of. I also thought it may not survive with a 4 year old brother and 2 two year old running around. However, we had also planned ahead on her birthday gift and bought a gift certificate to a local jumping gym full of trampolines. She would have loved it. We felt guilty giving her a gift she wouldn't be able to use for a few months due to her broken arm. Plus I am not really sure I ready to have her jumping on a trampoline anytime soon!
It was a fun night, the house was trashed for two days but memories were made. I love watching them grow up. It's the hardest most rewarding job I have ever had. Now we are getting ready to prepare for the next birthday season in December. When my 2 two year olds turn 3!
Times flying by!
